Frequently asked questions

Answers to what homeowners ask most

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — we are fully licensed for plumbing and gas work in North Carolina and carry comprehensive liability insurance.
What services do you provide?
We specialize in four areas: plumbing, water heaters, gas lines, and gas fireplaces. We do not service furnaces, air conditioning, or other HVAC equipment.
Do you provide free estimates?
We provide free, no-obligation estimates for installations and larger repairs.
What areas do you serve?
Charlotte, Matthews, Huntersville, Concord, Fort Mill, and dozens of surrounding cities across Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus, Iredell, Gaston, and York counties.
Do you service commercial properties?
Yes — we service restaurants, offices, retail, and multi-family properties in addition to residential work.
What should I do if I smell gas?
Leave the building immediately, do not use switches or phones inside, and call Piedmont Natural Gas or 911 from a safe distance. Piedmont handles gas emergencies; we handle repairs and testing once the situation is safe.
Do you offer emergency service?
We are a scheduled-service company and do not provide 24/7 emergency response. For a natural gas emergency, contact Piedmont Natural Gas or 911 immediately.
How soon can you schedule a visit?
Most service is scheduled within 1–3 business days, and we often have same-week availability.
How long does a water heater last?
Traditional tanks last 8–12 years; tankless units can last 20+ years with proper maintenance.
Should I choose tank or tankless?
Tankless offers endless hot water and higher efficiency but a higher upfront cost. We size both options for your household and quote each.
Why does my hot water run out so quickly?
Common causes are undersized tanks, sediment buildup, a failed dip tube, or a bad lower heating element. A diagnostic visit identifies which.
Do you flush and maintain water heaters?
Yes — annual flushing, anode rod inspection, and T&P valve testing extend tank life considerably.
How often should a gas fireplace be inspected?
Annually — even light-use gas fireplaces benefit from an annual safety, venting, and combustion inspection.
Why won't my gas fireplace pilot stay lit?
Usually a dirty pilot assembly or a weak thermopile. Both are common, inexpensive repairs.
Do you convert wood fireplaces to gas?
Yes — gas log sets and full gas insert conversions are one of our specialties.
Can you install gas lines for outdoor kitchens?
Yes — we install and pressure test gas lines for grills, fire pits, fire tables, generators, and full outdoor kitchens.
Do you connect gas ranges and dryers?
Yes — appliance connections include a load calculation, a shutoff valve, and a documented leak test.
How do you test for gas leaks?
We use electronic gas detectors plus a pressure test on the isolated line to confirm the system holds before returning it to service.
How do I know if I need a repipe?
Persistent leaks, discolored water, low pressure, and older galvanized piping are common signs. We inspect before recommending one.
What causes low water pressure?
Clogged aerators, a failed pressure reducing valve, or pipe corrosion. A diagnostic visit pinpoints the cause.
Is high water pressure a problem?
Yes. Anything above 80 psi stresses valves, connectors, and water heaters. We gauge pressure and replace failed regulators.
Do you clean sewer lines?
Yes, including camera inspection, hydro jetting, and repair of damaged sections.
What if my toilet keeps running?
Usually a flapper or fill valve — a quick, inexpensive repair we can often handle same-day.
Do you offer garbage disposal replacement?
Yes — we supply and install premium disposals and clean up afterward.
Do you install water filtration?
Yes — whole-home filtration, softeners, and under-sink drinking-water systems.
Can you repair any brand?
We service most major brands including Rheem, AO Smith, Bradford White, Rinnai, Navien, Heat & Glo, and Napoleon.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes — we pull all required plumbing and gas permits and coordinate inspections.
What warranty do you provide?
Parts and labor warranties vary by service; installations include a written warranty. Ask for details when we quote.
Do you offer maintenance plans?
Yes — annual plans covering plumbing inspections, water heater flushes, and gas fireplace service.
How are your prices structured?
We provide an upfront written quote before starting work. No hidden charges or surprises.
Do you finance larger projects?
We offer financing options for qualifying installations. Ask when you request an estimate.
